Knights in silver armor
Are hard to find
With their swords
Ready to fight
Who is coming up behind
Made to defend their love with honor
But they never speak
Just bow and conquer
For their princess or their queen
They will protect forever
Stand straight and tall
Praised for fighting clever
And when the helmet is removed
A solid man holds himself beneath
The woman he does love
Seems to be bequeathed
To the prince or king of another land
Still, a knight is at attention
Through pain brought upon himself
Yet it goes unmentioned
With a sturdy grip, fingers held tight
Around the shining metal so cold
He quivers at the sight of her
The other man’s hand to hold
But as they walk down the aisle
Tears break from his eyes
Each piece of armor is removed
And to the guests’ surprise
His heart is held out in front of her
He kneels on the ground
To everyone’s dismay
This love is profound
A knight has watched her long enough
Every feeling kept inside
But finally before the wedding
He had to confront the bride
But he did not win
It was much too late
Though he knew all about her
The kingdom was a fragile state
For disrupting the royal marriage
He was to be beheaded
And she was to do it
For all to watch at the wedding
